The course is designed for people with some experience in
steep ground, whether on rock or on ice. That means you might have some
background in winter mountains, but would like to gain some knowledge &
experience of climbing on snow & ice in winter.
The
aim is to produce a safe & competent approach to climbing in winter. with a
ratio of only two clients to one Guide, a good level of individual instruction
& care can be achieved.
 We cover techniques for
climbing snow, ice & mixed terrain; choice of equipment; belaying; rope
management; snow analysis for avalanche assessment; also, climbing some gullies
& buttresses in some magnificent settings - Coire Mhic Fhearchair (Triple
Buttress Coire) on Beinn Eighe, one of the most impressive venues in Scotland;
the northern Corries of Liathach; the Cold Hole of Fuar Tholl, as well as the
six corries of Beinn Bhan.
