Mountainvision Advanced WInter
Ice 2008
This course would be attractive to those who have climbed at grade II or III before, & who wish to consolidate their skills & gain more experience at the higher grades of IV & above. The course would suite clients who have perhaps attended a snow & ice course before, whether at Mountainvision, or elsewhere, & who wish to get onto the harder grades. The ratio of 2:1 allows us access onto routes of any grade, fitness depending! This course is very dependent on good conditions, and every effort is made to seek out the best ice. We must however be prepared to travel! Ben Nevis is under two hours drive away, and although a long day, it does provide the opportunity of a drink at the Cluanie Inn on the way home! Other areas within reach are the Northern Corries of Cairngorm, and An Teallach & the Fannichs to the North. Of course our local mountains - Torridon, Beinn Bhan, Fuar Tholl & Sgorr Ruadh - offer superb winter climbing on our doorstep. 'Cold Climbs' classics such as March Hares & Mad Hatters on Beinn Bhan are in condition most of the winter. Other grade V's are Poachers on Liathach, as well as West Coast Boomer on Beinn Alligin, & the East & West Buttress' (IV) & (IV) on the Triple Buttress of Beinn Eighe. Booking for this course can be made at short notice - give us a call or look at our website for up to date conditions and photographs.
